Zoho People alternatives

What Indian teams choose when Zoho People's price is right but the split between HR and payroll is not.

Why people look for Zoho People alternatives

  • HR and payroll are two subscriptions. Zoho People does not run Indian payroll — Zoho Payroll is a separate product, so the cheap per-user headline is not the whole bill.
  • The value assumes the ecosystem. If you are not running the rest of Zoho, much of the integration advantage disappears.
  • Configuration depth runs out on Indian shift, overtime and attendance-regularisation rules.

Head to head

SignHR vs Zoho People

Pick SignHR if

Teams that want a standalone HRMS with a built-in AI assistant and one published per-user price that is the whole bill — not a module that pulls you into a wider Zoho subscription for payroll.

Pick Zoho People if

Companies already running Zoho CRM, Zoho Books or Zoho Recruit. Zoho People slots into a suite you already own, data flows between products through native connectors, and the ecosystem is mature and globally known. If you are deep in Zoho, keeping HR inside the suite costs less integration than a standalone would.

On price: The per-user rate is not the whole bill: Indian payroll runs through Zoho Payroll, a separate Zoho subscription with its own price, and every rate above is billed annually rather than month to month.

What to compare on

One system or two
The most common reason for this search. If HR and payroll are separate products, a corrected attendance record has to travel between them.
Real total cost
Compare the per-user price plus payroll, not the per-user price alone. Otherwise the comparison flatters whichever vendor unbundles most.
Indian statutory depth
PF, ESI, professional tax and gratuity have to be right, and they are the part a globally-designed HR module tends to generalise.

Where SignHR is the wrong choice

  • Younger product than the incumbents, with a smaller partner and consultant ecosystem.
  • Global payroll is not run in-house — multi-country HR is supported, but statutory payroll computation is India-first.
  • Some integrations named on our roadmap are not shipped yet; the integrations page marks which.

Frequently asked questions

Zoho publishes it: ₹48, ₹96, ₹144 and ₹192 per user per month across the Essential HR, Professional, Premium and Enterprise plans, billed annually, alongside a free tier. Checked against Zoho's own pricing page on 6 August 2026.

Not by itself. Payroll is Zoho Payroll, a separate product with its own subscription. Any comparison that puts Zoho People's per-user price against an all-in-one Indian HRMS is comparing different things.

On headline price, rarely — ₹48 per user is very low. On total cost for an Indian team that needs payroll, the all-in-one products often land closer than the headline suggests once the second subscription is counted.

There is a real case for staying. Shared authentication, one vendor relationship and one bill are worth something. The question is whether the HR-payroll split costs you more in monthly reconciliation than the integration saves.
