BambooHR alternatives
What to use instead of BambooHR when your team is in India — and why the answer is rarely another US HRIS.
Why people look for BambooHR alternatives
- It does not run Indian payroll. BambooHR is a fine HRIS, but PF, ESI, professional tax and gratuity are not part of it, so an Indian team ends up with a second payroll system anyway.
- The bill is in dollars. Ten to twenty-five USD per employee per month converts into a number that is hard to defend against Indian alternatives.
- Attendance and shift handling assume a salaried desk workforce, which does not describe most Indian operations teams.
Head to head
SignHR vs BambooHR
Pick SignHR if
Teams with employees across India, the Middle East and Europe that need multi-country HR and multi-currency salary records in one place, with statutory payroll handled for India.
Pick BambooHR if
US-only teams that value BambooHR's brand recognition, mature US payroll integrations and large review base. If all your people are in North America and you want an HRIS the US market has tested at scale, BambooHR is the proven answer.
| Capability | SignHR | BambooHR |
|---|---|---|
| Core HR | Yes | Yes |
| Time & Attendance | Yes | Yes |
| Leave Management | Yes | Yes |
| Onboarding | Yes | Yes |
| Payroll | Payroll-ready (compute inputs) | US payroll only |
| Agentic HR (AI Assistant) | Yes | No |
On price: Every BambooHR figure is USD, which lands harder on an Indian budget than the sticker suggests once converted. And BambooHR does no Indian statutory payroll — PF, ESI, professional tax and TDS are not part of its model at all.

- Indian statutory payroll
- The single reason most Indian teams leave. If it is not in the product, you are buying two systems.
- Currency and cost base
- USD per-employee pricing scales badly against rupee budgets, particularly past a hundred people.
- Shift and attendance reality
- Rosters, overtime and regularisation matter in Indian operations in a way a US-designed HRIS rarely models.

Where SignHR is the wrong choice
- Younger product than the incumbents, with a smaller partner and consultant ecosystem.
- Global payroll is not run in-house — multi-country HR is supported, but statutory payroll computation is India-first.
- Some integrations named on our roadmap are not shipped yet; the integrations page marks which.
Frequently asked questions
BambooHR publishes it: Core is $10, Pro $17 and Elite $25 per employee per month, with a flat rate from $250 a month for organisations of 25 employees or fewer. Checked against BambooHR's own pricing page on 6 August 2026.
No. Its payroll offering is US-oriented, and Indian statutory components — PF, ESI, professional tax, gratuity — are not handled. Indian customers typically run payroll in a separate Indian system.
For interface quality, Zoho People and Keka come closest. For the payroll BambooHR does not do, greytHR and SignHR are the more direct answers. There is no single Indian product that is BambooHR plus Indian payroll and nothing else.
Some teams do exactly that, keeping BambooHR as the record of employment and running payroll separately. It works, but you are paying twice and reconciling monthly — worth costing honestly against a single Indian platform.
