Workday alternatives
A straight comparison with SignHR — what each costs, what moves if you switch, and where Workday is genuinely the better answer.
Why people look for Workday alternatives
- The quote arrived and it is an enterprise number. Workday does not publish pricing, and the first figure usually assumes a multi-quarter implementation with a partner.
- The implementation is a programme, not a purchase — which is correct at ten thousand employees and absurd at three hundred.
- Most teams searching this are mid-market and were pointed at Workday by someone who had used it at a much larger employer.
Where SignHR fits
SignHR vs Workday
SignHR
Indian teams that want core HR, attendance, leave and payroll inputs connected rather than stitched across several tools.
- Younger product than the incumbents, with a smaller partner and consultant ecosystem.
- Global payroll is not run in-house — multi-country HR is supported, but statutory payroll computation is India-first.
- Some integrations named on our roadmap are not shipped yet; the integrations page marks which.
Workday
We have not built a head-to-head against Workday, because the two rarely land on the same shortlist. What follows is what SignHR does and does not do, so you can rule it in or out quickly.
What to compare on
- Are you actually Workday's size?
- Below roughly a thousand employees, and without a dedicated HR systems function, Workday is not a cheaper-or-dearer decision — it is the wrong category. Establish this before comparing anything.
- Global versus domestic complexity
- Workday earns its cost on genuine multi-country, multi-entity complexity. If your complexity is one country and a lot of shift workers, that budget buys you nothing.
- Total cost including implementation
- The licence is not the number. Partner implementation, internal programme time and ongoing administration often exceed it.
What you get with SignHR
23 modules on one platform, priced per employee with no headcount minimum. Punches arrive from ESSL, Hikvision, ZKTeco biometric devices, from the mobile app, or from on-device face recognition — and they feed the same record that leave, shifts and payroll inputs read from.
Core & AI
Your people data, self-service, and an Agentic HR on top.
Time & Attendance
Punches, leave, rosters, and the approvals they trigger.
Talent & Lifecycle
From first interview to final letter.
Pay & Operations
Payroll inputs, expenses, assets, and the work around them.
Platform
Reporting, integrations, access control, and multi-location.
Where SignHR is the wrong choice

Frequently asked questions
Workday does not publish pricing. Every deal is quoted, and the licence is only part of the total — partner implementation, internal programme time and ongoing administration are usually the larger share. Any per-employee figure you find on a comparison blog is second-hand and we will not repeat it.
At large-enterprise scale with real global complexity — thousands of employees across multiple countries and legal entities, a dedicated HR systems team, and a need for HR, finance and planning on one data model. Under those conditions it is the reference standard for good reasons. This page exists because a lot of people are shown it who do not meet them.
It depends on your size. At several thousand employees, Darwinbox is the strongest regional enterprise option. In the mid-market, Keka has the breadth. Below that, SignHR, greytHR and the other Indian SMB platforms cover statutory payroll and attendance at a fraction of the cost — and none of them require an implementation partner.
Not at this tier. Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Darwinbox and Rippling all quote. If a published price is a requirement for your shortlist, you are effectively choosing from the mid-market and SMB tiers — which, for most organisations searching this, is the correct place to be looking anyway.
