Why it’s different

Why HR is different in Construction

HR built for the reality of construction — crews across sites, attendance captured where the work happens, and rosters that change with the project.

Crews move between sites and there is no fixed door to punch at, so attendance either goes uncaptured or gets reconstructed from a supervisor's memory at month end.

Shift patterns change with the project phase — a roster built for structural work does not survive the switch to finishing, and rebuilding it by hand each time is where the errors come from.

Contract and daily-wage workers sit alongside permanent staff under entirely different attendance, pay and compliance rules, in the same system and often on the same site.

Questions

Construction HR, answered

Punches are GPS-stamped and can be restricted to a geofenced area, so a worker checks in at the site itself rather than at a fixed terminal. The punch carries where it happened, which is what ends the argument about who was on site.

A geofence is defined as a radius around a point, so a site that is still a field can be covered by widening the radius. It is a practical containment rather than a survey boundary, and the punch location is recorded regardless.

Shift patterns are defined once and assigned per employee, so moving a crew onto a new pattern is a reassignment rather than a rebuild. Change requests run through an approval trail, so the roster on screen is the one that was actually worked.

Schedules, shift rules and leave policies are assigned per employee, so two people working the same site can be measured against genuinely different rules without running two systems.

Recurring checklists capture photo, GPS and numeric proof against a schedule. A toolbox talk or a plant inspection becomes a timestamped record rather than a signature on a sheet in the site cabin.

Punches captured offline sync when the device is back online, so a basement or a remote site does not create a gap that someone has to fill in manually afterwards.

Our QC checks are logged every single shift. My last audit was a five-minute export instead of a week digging through registers.
